Description / Comments

Welcome to the 114th Annual Luther Burbank Rose Parade and Festival, one of Sonoma County’s most honored traditions and one of the oldest and largest events of its kind in Northern California.

This year’s event will “Go Green & X-Treme” with the theme as showcasing activities that take life to the edge as we focus on reducing our carbon footprint. The parade route will change slightly to end at Third and B Streets creating a nice flow into the new festival area, Courthouse Square and Fourth Street from B Street to E Street.

Spectators can look forward to a fun day of activities as we bring back the Iron Chef competition adding a new twist – X-Treme n Green Iron Chef competition – in which the participants will also be judged on their ability to cook green and extreme; the Boys Scouts of America are joining us again and inviting the Girl Scouts for their annual Scout-o-Rama; there will be extreme sport exhibitions in the X-Treme Zone; and we will have a Green Zone where you will be able to learn about how each person can make a difference and help to sustain our planet.

The Parade annually kicks off on the third Saturday of May beginning at 10 AM. It winds its way through the streets of downtown Santa Rosa with radio broadcasters lining the parade route
providing lively commentary of the entries. The Parade will be following the same route as the Parade in 2006, the opposite direction of last year’s Parade.  The Parade steps off at 10 AM at the Sonoma County Veteran’s Memorial Building on Stevenson Street.  It will proceed west toward South E Street where it will turn north.  The Parade will continue down E Street until it reaches 3rd Street where it will turn west.  It will proceed until it reaches Mendocino Avenue, where it will disband. The parade lasts about 2 hours and is televised live on Santa Rosa's TV50.
